New Meath manager Robbie Brennan.

Carlow pose a serious threat for Brennan's Royals

New Meath manager Robbie Brennan will be hoping his team can make an impact in this year's Leinster SFC, a competition the Royals last won in 2010.

It emerged from the championship draw that Meath will kick start their campaign with a game against Carlow in a first round pairing.

If they win that Meath will then take on Offaly.

It is an indication of Meath's lowly status in the rankings that they start their campaign in the first round while teams like Dublin, Louth, Offaly and Kildare (this year's four semi-finalists) go straight to the quarter-final stages.

Meath's current standing ensures they have to take every opponent as a serious threat.

In the 2024 campaign Colm O'Rourke's side defeated Longford in round one but after a struggle. They won out 3-19 to 3-12 before getting trounced by Dublin (0-12 to 3-19) in the next round.

An experienced manager like Brennan certainly won't be taking anything for granted - or should he.

This is how the draw worked out for all the Leinster teams:
