The Boyne Valley players celebrate after defeating Moyfenragh in last year's Regional FC final.

Brennan sure to be an interested spectator when Regional FC gets underway

Competition gives new Meath manager chance to seek out players for county panel

The Regional Football Championship which was first introduced in 2022 will once again take place - and one man sure to be very interested in the performances of the players will be new Meath manager Robbie Brennan.

The competition offers a great opportunity for Brennan to have a look at a wide range of players from a large number of clubs within a short space of time.

It also gives players from clubs well down the ranks a chance to shine at a representative level - and who knows, some might get the call up to the county panel.

The format involves teams made up of players from specific areas and drawn in two groups with games down to be played at various venues. A positive feature of the competition is that the regional teams are made up of players from the junior and intermediate ranks.

The competition gets underway on Friday 25th October with the reigning champions Boyne Valley due to take on Lough Crew in Ballinloug.

The semi-finals are fixed for Dunganny on Saturday 16th November with the final taking place the following Saturday 23rd November in Ashbourne.
