Nothing to separate Naomh Eoin and Ard Ri

GIRLS DIV 2/3/4/5 SHIELD

Nothing could separate Scoil Naomh Eoin and Ard Rí CNS in the Girls Div 2/3/4/5 final at Trim on Thursday last, writes Tom Gannon.

A fantastic defensive display, primarily from Talia Oriri, helped Scoil Naomh Eoin garner a seven-point advantage with 10 minutes left. However, a flurry of goals from Ard Ri meant that their Navan counterparts needed a late goal to force a replay.

Points from Barktute and Natalia Bikiewicz saw Naomh Eoin race into an early three-point lead. Barktute then set up Mia Callen for the game's opening goal.

Bikiewicz also found the back of the net a few minutes later as Naomh Eoin looked to be cruising. Ard Rí got off the mark late on in the half when Chloe Chaney’s effort came rattling off the bar but Ava Chaney was on hand to finish to the Naomh Eoin net which gave Naomh Eoin a 2-3 to 1-0 interval lead.

India Moore kicked off proceedings in the second-half before Ard Ri captain, Martha McDermott responded with a goal midway through the second 20 minutes. Ard Ri’s star player, Timea Kaminska then took over and rattled off 2-1 in quick succession. Having led for three-quarters of the clash, Naomh Eoin needed Barktute to step up and provide a late goal in order to force a replay.
