MBTA Pitch Night at AIB Navan.

Businesses 'Pitch' in to share secrets of success

Over 30 exciting Meath business owners, entrepreneurs and non-profit organisations came together to share their stories in a unique 'Pitch Night' ahead of this year's Meath Business and Tourism Awards.

The gathering, kindly hosted by AIB's Navan branch team saw all the shortlisted finalists for the MBTAs deliver passionate two-minute 'pitches' about their enterprises to the judging panel with the occasion also acting as a unique networking event.

The ‘Pitch Night’ was the brainchild of former Meath Co Council Director of Services, Kevin Stewart, who hosted the event up until this year, with the role of MC ably taken over by Fergal Lynch, Sports Editor with Meath Chronicle.

The aim of the Pitch Night is to give a level playing field to all companies big and small so each company has two minutes to tell the judges and the other assembled finalists why they should win their category and also be considered for the two prestigious awards of Overall Tourism and/or Overall Business of the Year 2024.

Previous years have seen plenty of colourful and unique uses of the allotted time to sell a company's story including presentations through the mediums of song and dance and this year a cleverly written poem by Skin and Bodyworks owner, Andrea Farrelly entertained the audience.

Thirty six businesses - nominees from 11 different categories - told their stories and gave their reasons why they should win. However, all those who get to the shortlist stage receive an award at the ceremony in the Knightsbrook Hotel in Trim on Friday, November 8th.

Mary Bisgood of Celtic Media Group, the driving force behind the Meath Business and Tourism Awards says the Pitch Night always provides “wonderful stories from family businesses who were established 100 years ago to businesses who are just starting out.”

“The event is a great networking evening and an ice-breaker for the awards night as all attending get to know one another's businesses and discuss potential alliances.”
