Meath artists to feature at Ireland’s largest art fair
Meath artists are set to take centre stage as they feature their work at Ireland’s largest and most exciting art fair.
The best and brightest in Irish art are set to appear alongside world-class international artists when Art Source opens its doors at the RDS from 15th-17th November.
Bríd Fanning, based in Oldcastle, is dedicated to revitalising the rich essence of rural Irish culture through vibrant artworks that weave stories from the past and present.
She originally worked in the corporate sector for over 20 years as a graphic designer in marketing departments, but was always creating art in the background as a creative outlet.
Now, Fanning finds inspiration in her local rural environment, and expresses her love of colour and texture through her subject matter of people, animals and landscapes.
Her work comprises contemporary pieces of traditional subject matter, characterised by bold colour and texture using oils and cold wax worked with a palette knife.
Eman Rajab, originally based in Egypt and now living in Navan, is a former lawyer whose art helped her connect with her community.
“Art was one of the sources of companionship when I moved from Egypt to Ireland,” said Rajab.
“It was my key to getting to know people here, gaining beautiful friendships and meeting wonderful clients.
“The Irish are one of the most loving and appreciative people for art, and this always makes me feel happy, loved and warm, and this feeling helped me greatly to overcome the feeling of loneliness.”
Rajab’s work, which showcases cheerful and vivid spring and summer scenes and architecture, achieves texture through layers of strong and bold acrylic colours.
Art Source features a huge selection of affordable art as well as a wide range of pieces from some of the biggest names in the art world, including Andy Warhol, Banksy and Julien Opie, making it an unmissable event for art lovers.
“Over the past number of years we have seen that the Irish public have shown an enormous appetite for art, and Art Source has become a major destination for buyers who are interested in art from some of the world’s most recognisable artists” said show organiser, Patrick O’Sullivan.
“As a reflection of that demand, this will be the biggest Art Source to date.
“The reason the fair is growing so much is that Irish people are interested in art and culture at heart, and many people make a point of returning to the fair annually.
“The fair also offers visitors the opportunity to purchase one-off original artworks to make their home unique and also the opportunity to meet the artists and find out about their work.
“The event is where the industry meets to see what is going on in the Irish art world, and this year is our biggest yet, with the widest range of art styles anywhere in Ireland.”
This year will once again feature Art Source’s 100 for €100 event, where artists have been asked to create one original piece of artwork which will sell at the fair for just €100.
Art Source opens on Friday, 15th November at 11am, and runs until 17th November.
