Celebrate 30 years with Staunton's Life Pharmacy
In-store events at Navan's Church Hill store for milestone anniversary
Staunton's Life Pharmacy is celebrating 30 years in Navan, and to mark the occasion, a special in-store event is taking place on Friday 6th and Saturday 7th December.
Joe and June Staunton opened the pharmacy on Church Hill off the Fair Green in 1994, and to thank all their customers and friends for their support over the past three decades, there will be in-store raffles, hamper prizes, refreshments, giveaways, special offers and discounts on various products in the store, as well as LMFM radio broadcasting onsite.
When Joe arrived in Meath from his native Mayo, he wasn't the first member of the family to make the trip from the west. His pharmacist father, Joe snr, who was a member of the famous 1951 All-Ireland senior football championship-winning team, and uncle, Jack, ran pharmacy businesses in Louisburgh and Castlebar, and it was to Athboy that Joe's brother, Padraic, first arrived, establishing a pharmacy there in the 1980s.
Joe came to work with him as a locum after qualifying, and identifying an opportunity in the county town at the time, moved to open his own business in Navan.
Joe's roots became established in the Royal County when he married June Finegan from Cortown, where they settled to bring up their family of four - Hugh, Rory, Harry and Theo. Over the years, Stauntons became embedded in the community as well as looking after customers’ needs, providing sponsorship for clubs such as Navan Rugby Club, Parkvilla Football Club, and Cortown GFC, as various family members were involved with these clubs – another way of giving back.
Many of their customers have been with them since day one, as well as younger generations and newer arrivals to Navan, and Joe Staunton wishes to thank all of these for their custom over the past 30 years.
He is also happy to say that of their staff of nine in the store, at least half of them are with him since those early days, looking after customers with great care and sensitivity. The main purpose of the pharmacy has been dispensing medical prescriptions, as well as providing products and treatments for sport injuries and wellness.
One of the recent services that Joe is delighted to have is a PillPacPlus Robot system that produces individual pouches of medication, labelled with the correct dosage and administration time. This greatly improves safety and accuracy and is a huge benefit to customers needing assistance with compliance and convenience.
Further developments over the years have seen the introduction of consultation rooms, vaccination services, and blood pressure monitoring, lifestyle advice, and other services include foot health clinic, asthma inhaler techniques, blood glucose screening, chiropody and dental products, as well as vitamins, sports supplements, baby and personal care products, and basic services such as passport photographs and body mass index measuring.
Beauty and skincare products, as well as fragrances are in stock, with premium brands such as Clarins, Shiseio, La Roche-Posay, Vichy and Neostrata, and in the run up to the festive season, luxury Christmas presents and gift products are on offer.
Stauntons Pharmacy has a branch in Johnstown Village expertly managed by two very experienced staff members, Marguerite Coogan and Anne Marie Rennicks, along with a great team that cares so much for the community.
Everybody is welcome to drop into Staunton's Life Pharmacy on Friday and Saturday, 6th and 7th December, to celebrate this milestone in the family pharmacy which has been looking after the needs of Navan and surrounds for 30 years.
