GE2024... Who else is on the ballot paper in Meath West?
Navan resident, Ben Gilroy, who has run in five previous elections is the leader of the Liberty Republic party.
He is a candidate in five constituencies: Meath West, Dublin Fingal East and Dublin Fingal West. He was the founder of Direct Democracy Ireland (DDI) and was also a member of the Irish Freedom Party.
Gilroy (right), stood for election in Meath East in the 2013 by-election and the the 2016 general election and the 2020 general election in Dublin Bay North.
He ran for election in Midlands North West in the 2014 and in the Dublin constituency in the 2019 European parliament elections.
He says his party wants a freeze on all legal immigration, the detention and deportation of all illegal immigrants and the prioritisation of housing for Irish people, as well as a freeze on rent increases until the housing crisis has ended.
He has spoken of "pseudoscience put forward by the loopy Greens and UN climate cult, sacrificing the Irish people on the altar of climate change."
His party is calling for the abolition of property tax, USC and all carbon taxes and "defending Ireland from greedy globalist elites attempting to put us all under UN, EU, WEF fascist control through elected traitors, unelected bureaucrats and their NGO agents."
Damien Reilly, who is running as an independent candidate says he is committed to reinstating Article 48—a tool for direct democracy that would give you the right to call a referendum on major issues with just 100,000 signatures.
He is calling for cluster housing developments is aimed at revitalising rural communities, creating affordable homes, and encouraging young families to stay or return and will focus on accessible healthcare, local economic development, and community empowerment.
Ian McGauley (right), is running in Meath West for the Irish People - a political party that unites independent candidates under a shared banner.
Their core principles include "supporting family values, advocating for free speech, prioritising housing for Irish citizens, endorsing sensible immigration policies, maintaining neutrality in international conflicts, ensuring education is free from indoctrination, and supporting rural and farming communities."
