Cadidates asked to sign pledge on workers rights

The SIPTU trade union has been asking candidates to sign a pledge promising to protect workers rights.

By signing it, they pledge to support legislation which promotes collective bargaining, protects workplace representatives and ensures the right to access a trade union at work.

According to John Regan, SIPTU Sector organiser, all the left wing candidates in Meath East and Meath West have signed the pledge along with several other candidates.

"We are still reaching out to candidates asking them to sign and support workers rights, he said.

Anyone who hasn't signed but wants to can contact contact John Regan or the SIPTU trade union.
