Furey's Christmas single for Simon Communities

Navan singer's 20 minute song recorded in a day

Navan native, Wexford-based singer, Davie Furey, has released his latest single, 'Christmas Eve' across all streaming platforms, raising proceeds and awareness for The Simon Communities of Ireland.

Recorded in Jealoustown Studios in Skryne with with producer and musician, Stuart Gray, Davie Furey is on vocals & acoustic guitar, with Gray on guitars and keys, and Michael Kerr (The Whistlin’ Donkeys) on the fiddle.

“I’ve written a couple of Christmas themed songs over the years but have never released any of them or included them on my albums," Furey says. “Christmas Eve was written in about 20 minutes and recorded in a day at Jealoustown with Stuart. As soon as I wrote it, I needed to record it as quickly as possible - some songs are just impatient, I guess. For me, this is a song of reflection and gratitude, whilst also being aware that this time of the year can be very difficult for people. All proceeds of the single will be donated to The Simon Communities of Ireland and the great work they do in supporting people facing homelessness across the country.”

The Simon Communities of Ireland are a network of independent communities around the country that provide homeless, housing and treatment services to people facing the trauma and stress of homelessness. The Simon Communities of Ireland works to end long term homelessness in Ireland and ensure that homelessness, where it does occur, is rare, short-term and non-recurring.

Aisling McSharry, corporate manager, Simon Communities of Ireland, says: ‘’We are delighted to be partnering with Davie Furey on his Christmas single and hope this will raise much needed funds and awareness for the people facing the issues of homelessness this Christmas season.

“The national office is a leading campaigner in putting forward solutions for tackling homelessness, which engages in advocacy, policy and communications work grounded in the experiences of our local services. We campaign for more effective policies and legislation locally, nationally and at a European level.
