Former Meath GAA stars claim All-Ireland glory

A former Ratoath GAA underage star, Gavin King, and a former Donaghmore/Ashbourne player Jack Meagher have won the AIB All Ireland Club with their club Na Fianna.

Na Fianna were crowned All Ireland SHC champions on Sunday afternoon after a 2-23 to 0-20 win over Sarsfields.

King is a former student of Ratoath College while Meagher attended Ashbourne Community School. In their juvenile days, the pair both captained their respective clubs to u-13 championship success.

Jack Meagher started at midfield for Na Fianna and set up Tom Brennan for one of Na Fianna's two goals. He also grabbed himself a point for good measure in what was an overall great performance from the former Meath minor hurler.

King has been an important presence in the Na Fianna team all year and was due to start Sunday's final. However, there was a late change to the starting 15 but the former Ratoath star did make an appearance off the bench for the now All Ireland club SHC champions.

Na Fianna were crowned county champions after they beat Kilmacud Crokes in an enthralling Dublin SHC Final last October. Niall O'Ceallacháin's side got the better of Kilcormac-Killoughey in the Leinster SHC final before a slender one-point win over Loughrea in the semi-final.
