Body of young man recovered from Lough Ramor

The body of a young man was recovered from Lough Ramor in the early hours of this morning after the alarm was raised yesterday evening.

Gardaí confirmed this morning that the body of a man in his 20s was recovered following a search operation in Virginia, Co Cavan, yesterday (Thursday), February 20.

"Emergency services were alerted to an incident at Lough Ramor at around 9:40pm and, following a search by the local fire brigade, Civil Defence and Meath River Rescue, a body was recovered.

"Gardaí will now focus on preparing a file for the County Coroner."

Meath River Rescue posted online: "Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends."
