Gun and ammunition found in search of Drogheda residence
A firearm and ammunition has been seized, with one man arrested during a Garda operation in Drogheda, Co. Louth today.
A Garda statement read: "As part of Operation Stratus and ongoing investigations targeting the sale and supply of drugs in the Louth/Cavan/Monaghan division, Gardaí attached to the Divisional Drugs Unit executed a search warrant at a residential property in Drogheda, Co. Louth on Tuesday afternoon, 4th March 2025."
In the course of the search, a semi-automatic firearm and 10 rounds of ammunition were discovered and seized by Gardaí. A small amount of drugs and drug paraphernalia were also seized at the property.
"A man in his 30s was arrested at the scene for an offence contrary to Section 72 of the Criminal Justice Act 2006 and conveyed to a Garda Station in the North Western Region, where he is currently detained under the provisions of Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2007."
The firearm has been forwarded for a technical examination by the Ballistics Section of the Garda Technical Bureau.
Investigations are ongoing.
