Meath cruise to victory over Laois

Meath's impressive start to 2019 continued at Pairc Tailteann this afternoon as they cruised into the Ladies Leinster IFC semi-finals with a comprehensive 4-15 to 2-9 victory over Laois.
The hosts used the wind to good effect in the opening period with the magnificent Stacey Grimes bagging two goals to boost her side to a 3-10 to 1-5 interval lead.
However it wasn't all plain sailing for Meath as Monica McGuirk was once again called upon to make three world class saves to preserve her side's lead.
Meath started well opening up a 0-3 to 0-1 lead after four minutes, but a goal from laura Nerner rocked the Royals and left them two points behind. However Meath's response to that setback was impressive as they hit three points in a minute to edge ahead again.
When Grimes bagged her side's opening goal in the 16th minute to make it 1-6 to 1-3 Meath never trailed again with Emma Duggan and Grimes finding the net again for their 11-point interval advantage.
Laois did close the gap to eight points with their second goal, but again Meath responded swiftly with Bridgetta Lynch's goal putting the issue beyond doubt and ensuring Meath coasted into the semi-final.
