Mads to get to know the locals!
Danish home retailer, JYSK, has appointed the manager for its new store in Drogheda. Mads Degn has taken on the role with the global homewares brand in preparation for the official store opening on Thursday 4th July.
As a young Dane, Mads Degn grew up knowing the story of JYSK and its founder Lars Larsen. His own father has spent a large part of his working life at JYSK as a retail manager for the company in Denmark. Since relocating to Ireland in January, Mads is very excited to get to know the local people in Drogheda when he opens the doors to his first JYSK store on the Donore Road this week.
He said: “My team are predominantly local, so they’ve been helping me get to grips with the local culture and things to do in Drogheda and surrounding area. I am really looking forward having my own store and team to manage. It’s always fascinating to see how customers will react to JYSK, and it will be interesting to learn their shopping habits.”
JYSK will open 15 stores across Ireland in the next two years, creating more than 200 jobs. Founded in Denmark in 1979 by Lars Larsen, over the past four decades JYSK has expanded to 51 countries with more than 2,700 stores worldwide employing 23,000 people.
The Irish JYSK leadership team includes Roni Tuominen, head of retail, and Jennifer Johnston, sales and marketing manager. Roni Tuominen’s expertise is built from nearly two decades’ experience in the retail sector in Finland, both at JYSK and retail chain, Clas Ohlson. Jennifer Johnston joins JYSK having previously spent time at eir, Snickers Workwear, and photography business, 3XM.
JYSK offers an extensive range of products for the home, from the bedroom to the garden, and at great prices. JYSK’s Scandinavian design ethic and stylish approach to interiors has made the brand known and loved across the world.
The Navan store will open in Navan Retail Park on 25th July.
