Gardai arrest male trying to steal fire engine as crew dealt with car fire
One male was arrested early this morning after allegedly climbing into a Meath Fire Service vehicle and attempting to drive it while the crew was dealing with an incident.
At around 7.45am a report was received of a car on fire in the Silverlawns estate. Meath Fire Service crews from Navan attended the scene. While firefighters were dealing with the incident a male got into one of the Fire Service vehicles and put it into reverse gear. He was arrested at the scene by Gardaí.
Gardaí are also investigating a house burglary which occurred in Silverlawns at 7.30am. All incidents are believed to be connected. The arrested person is currently detained at Navan Garda Station.
