A spokesperson for the Trim Branch of the Irish Red Cross, Philip Dorian said: "An AED is a life-saving piece of equipment and stealing an AED or other life saving equipment could mean stealing a life. There will be further AED's placed in the community in the New Year. Thanks again to Trim Gardai, the Staff at Farrells Pharmacy and members of the Irish Red Cross Trim Branch - Unit Officer Frank Connolly and branch chairperson Willie Crinion who worked tirelessly to get the AED restored and operational in such a short period."
The AED has already been used in emergencies in the town as it is registered under the National Emergency Control Centre with the National Ambulance Service 999/112 system.
It is routinely sent for when the people of Trim and surrounding areas ring 999/112 suffering chest pain, in the event of a cardiac arrest and where a patient is unconscious.
