Cashel outfoxed by clever Navan performance
After losing to Cashel in their last game of 2018 Navan kick-started 2019 with a rousing 20-13 AIL Div 2A victory over the same opposition with the help of a dramatic late try from full-back Paddy Fox at Balreask Old today.
The sides were level as the game entered the last few minutes but a precise crossfield pass from Colm O'Reilly allowed Fox in for a super try, brillinatly converted by Brian Haugh to give Ray Moloney's side.
Cashel looked like they might be set for a win when they scored early on with a James Ryan try but Haugh kicked two penalties. He also stole in for a try shortly before half-time, which he converted to put the home side 13-5 ahead at the break.
In second place before kick-off Cashel hauled themselves back on level terms with a try from Keith Melbourne and a penalty scored by Jonty Rae. A draw looked likely however in the closing minutes Fox gathered to score in the corner and send the home supporters into raptures of excitement.
