FAI awards for Enfield and Ashbourne

Meath woman Anne Maher and Meath club Ashbourne Utd were recognised last night at the FAI Delegates Dinner in Cork.

Anne Maher's contribution to Enfield Celitc's development was noted when she received a merit award while Ashbourne Utd,  one of the nominated clubs for the prestigious FAI club od the year award, picked up the 2018 FAI Club of the Year Merit Award. 

The overall club of the year accolade went to Tipperary club Ballymackey FC. 
 
Also last night Republic of Ireland manager Martin O'Neill presented the senior international caps belonging to the late Liam Miller to his family.

And the possibility of more intergrated competitions between the FAI and IFA was enhanced when history was made when the  President of the Irish Football Association, David Martin addressed the guests. 

It is the first time an IFA President has addressed the FAI Delegates, and he announced the creation of the Presidents Junior Cup.

FAI Junior Cup winners North End United (Wexford) will play IFA Junior Cup winners Enniskillen Rangers (Fermanagh) next Saturday at Whitehall in Dublin (Home Farm ground).

There were 20 recipients of the John Sherlock Services to Football Awards and it was in this category that Anne Maher picked up her award. 

Anne Maher is the chairperson of Enfield Celtic and a driving force in the club.

Also honoured in the category was a men who would be known to many in the Meath & District League (forerunner of the NEFL) and that was Noel Kennelly of the Amateur Football League.

ASHBOURNE UTD SOCIAL MEDIA POST
To make the finals is a tremendous achievement and is testament to everybody that has played a part since our inception in 1979 and  getting us to were we are today, a club boasting in excess of 400 players made up of our young 'Bourne Buddies' Academy, schoolboys / girls and both senior men and ladies teams.

We are also very proud and rightly so of the first class facilities we have in the heart of the community at Archerstown Full Sized & Flood Lit All Weather Pitch, 2 Full Sized Grass Pitches & Club House. 

In the not too distant future we will begin construction on our car park and additional pitches to cater for our growing membership
