Sarah's winner on the sand

Dunshaughlin-based Sarah Lynam had her first winner on the strand at the annual Laytown races this evening.

The Lynam-trained Tyrconnell (owned by Sarah's father Eddie) gave the trainer her second success in the last race on the card when he got the better of the the Tom McCourt-trained My Good Brother which had Colin Keane on board.

"That's my second winner so it's absolutely brilliant. He's been a little bit frustrating, but I think he has a bit of ability and a bit of pace so hopefully he'll keep going forward from here, she commented in a post-race interview.

"This place has such a great atmosphere, and I really wanted a winner on the beach, I've been saying it since the start of the  year and I think dad thought I was mad getting so excited about Laytown," she added.

Colin Keane's father, Gerry, trained the fourth home, Red All Star with Robbie Colgan on board.

For Colin Keane there was a victory in an earlier race when he completed what was a treble for trainer Jamie Osborne with Monumental Man.

Gordon Elliott completed a four-timer at Sedgefield in the UK today with jockey Richard Johnson partnering three of the winners for the Summerhill man.

Make My Heart Fly was the first in a novice hurdle while High Expectations and King's Song completed Johnson's treble with James Bowen was on board Dinions in a conditional handicap hurdle.
