Garda car rammed near Clonard

Two males and a female were arrested near Clonard yesterday, following an incident in which a Garda car was rammed.

The three were detained following a garda chase which ended  in Clonard. 

The incident followed a robbery from a shop in Cappincur, Tullamore, Co Offaly. 

At approximately 9.25pm yesterday evening two males entered a shop in Cappincur armed with a knife and a hammer. They threatened staff and left with a sum of money in a car with a third person. No one was injured.

The car then drove towards Dublin on the motorway and were later arrested near Clonard following the ramming of the garda vehicle.

The three, all in their 20’s, are currently detained under the provisions of Section 4 of The Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Tullamore Garda Station. Gardai recovered the property taken and the weapons used.
