Two from two for Ireland u-17s

Meath teenager Lauryn Grier and her Republic of Ireland u-17 colleagues clinched qualification to the Elite Round of UEFA European Championship qualifying following a 2-0 victory over Belarus in Turner's Cross last night.

Grier featured in the opening round victory on Wednesday night against the Faroe Islands, but did not start last night as the team went into the game leading Group 10 after their opening night 6-0 victory.

Top spot in the group will now come down to next Monday night's clash with Iceland in Turner's Cross, but the team has taken a big step towards next summer's finals tournament in Czech Republic.

However, going into the Elite Round as top seeds is Ireland's next target.

Payne could have made it three for the hosts, but her shot from the left dragged wide of the goal. It didn't matter though because Ireland had done enough to claim the three points.
