Driver airlifted to hospital following Navan collision
An 18 year-old man has been airlifted to hospital following a single vehicle collision on the Commons Road outside Navan. Emergency services rushed to the scene of the accident which occurred in the Hanlonstown area at lunchtime.
The 18 year-old driver of the silver/blue Toyota Starlet had to be extricated from the vehicle by members of Navan Fire Service. The injured man was airlifted to Tallaght Hospital. His injuries are understood to be serious but not life threatening.
A 16 year-old male who was a passenger in the car was also injured and was taken by ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda. His injuries are not thought to be serious.
It is understood the vehicle was travelling from the Gainstown/Robinstown direction towards Navan when it lost control.
Navan Gardai are investigating the single vehicle collision and have appealed for witnesses to contact Navan Garda Station on (046) 9079930.
