Great run by Tom Durcan
Bohermeen athlete Tom Durcan won a silver medal at National Masters Championships in Tullamore at the weekend. It was a superb performance from the veteran sportsman.
Some 52 years after he helped his local GAA club Martry to win the Meath JFC title in 1964, Durcan took his sporting career into its sixth decade at Tullamore over the weekend when he was in action at the National Masters Athletic Championships.
This time around Durcan contested the over-70 category in the 100 metres where he finished fourth.
Soon after that event he contested the 400 metres and delivered a great run to take the silver in a time of 71.77 seconds.
