Sara Treacy back in the race for gold at Rio
There was sensational news in relation to Sara Treacy after the third qualifying heat of the 3,000-metre steeplechase and the Moynalvey woman will now run in Monday's final with a chance of winning a gold medal.
Sara fell in the race - brought down by another athlete - and, apparently, due to pushing and barging, she has has been re-instated and will now compete in the final of 3,000m steeplechase.
'This is marvellous news, Sara would have known exactly what time she could have achieved, it's great news,' commented Dunboyne AC official Tommy McDonnell a few minutes ago.
The other Irish athletes in the event didn't qualify - Kerry O'Flaherty (14th) and Michelle Finn (11th) both missed out.
