McGrath out of luck
Bohermeen’s Kevin McGrath was out of luck at the European Youth Athletics Championships in Tiblisi Georgia on Sunday when he finished fourth in the u-18 800m finals.
Great Britain’s George Mills claimed the gold in a new personal best time on 1:48.82, while McGrath was fourth behind Italian pair Andrea Romani and Simone Barontini in a time of 1:50.51, well outside his season and personal best time of 1:49.77.
McGrath had eased into the final finishing third in his heat just over half a second before Mills in 1:54.95 and then claiming second behind Mills in the semi-final in a time of 1:51.03, just half a second back again.
However in the final Mills dominated the race and ran a new personal best while McGrath had to settle for fourth.
