Fly your country's flag in Trim on St Patrick's Day
Trim Tidy Towns is inviting all foreign national residents to take part in Trim St Patrick’s Day Global Citizens Parade.
This year is especially important for Ireland as it is the 100 year celebration of The 1916 Easter Rising, one of the defining moments of the struggle for Irish independence.
The Trim Parade will of course remember and honour those who took part and gave their lives during the Easter Rising but it is also an opportunity to celebrate our culturally diverse community in 2016.
So for the first time in Trim, an invitation is being extended to all foreign nationals, who have chosen to make Trim their home, to take part in the St Patrick’s Day Parade.
The plan is to have residents represent their culture and heritage by taking part in the parade and identifying their country by carrying their countries flag and walking behind it, similar to the opening ceremony in the Olympic Games.
Taking part is simple- Register interest by commenting on the event posted on the ‘Trim Tidy Towns’ Facebook page including your country of origin and how many will accompany you.
Visit Vincent at Siopa an Caislean (the souvenir shop opposite the castle) where you can purchase a flag or you can make your own
Finally turn up and take part.
Places are limited so don’t take too long to think it over. Come and take part in the Trim Tidy Town’s Community Parade.
