Curraha through to Leinster final while Don/Ash are crowned Meath u-21 FC champions
Donaghmore/Ashbourne were crowned Meath u-21 FC champions today as they held off a late surge from Skryne to secure a 2-11 to 2-10 win at Pairc Tailteann.
Two goals in a three minute spell early in the second quarter from Dylan Brady and Conor Donnelly boosted Donaghmore/Ashbourne to a 2-6 to 1-2 interval lead as they bounced back brilliantly from the concession of an early penalty goal.
With eight minutes remaining that lead was stretched to 2-11 to 1-5 and Donaghmore/Ashbourne looked comfortable. However skryne never gave up and hit five points on the trot to close the gap to four with a minute remaining.
In added time Conor O’Brien blasted a 20-metre free to the net to leave the minimum between the teams, but time ran out for Skryne as Donaghmore/Ashbourne held on.
In the second game on the bill at pairc Tailteann Curraha survived the first-half dismissal of Niall Murphy to book their place in the Leinster Club JFC final following their 0-16 to 0-9 victory over Carlow champions Grange.
James McEntee and Conor Moriarty lead the scoring charge for the Meath JFC, Tailteann Cup and A FL Div 4 winners with 11 points between them, but they made life difficult for themselves with Murphy’s dismissal.
Grange were reduced to 14 men late on and that allowed Curraha coast to the win where they will play Longford side St Brigid’s following their 4-4 to 2-6 win over Westmeath’s Milltown in the Leinster Club JFC final on Sunday 6th December in Pearse Park Longford.
