Troytown for Elliott again

Gordon Elliott continued his fine run of form with a treble at Navan today and a one-two in the featured Troytown Chase as Riverside City led home Georges Conn in a dramatic race.


Elliott was successful in last year's race with Balbriggan and had two runners today.

Empire Of Dirt and Kylecrue disputed the lead throughout, but the Colm Murphy-trained Empire Of Dirt crashed out three fences from the finish.

Six horses were in contention after jumping the next after which Ballychorus started to assert, but fell at the last.


Riverside City emerged victorious by a length and three-quarters for 16-year-old conditional jockey Jack Kennedy who also had three winners.

'I think that was my fifth or sixth ride over fences and I'm very grateful to Gordon and Mr (JP) McManus (owner) for giving me the opportunity,' said the young jockey.

'It's great to win it again, it's my local track and to have the first and second is brilliant,' said the trainer.

Elliott and Kennedy also won with 2-1 favourite Baroque Style in the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust Handicap Hurdle and Prince Of Scars (9-2) in the Proudstown Handicap Hurdle to complete a memorable day.

The Willie Mullins-trained Douvan made an impressive start over fences in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Beginners Chase (sent off at 2/11) with Ruby Walsh on board.

Falcon Crest made it two from two over timber with an emphatic triumph in the Grade Two 'Monksfield' Novice Hurdle with Barry Geraghty on board.

Robbie Power partnered Woodland Opera (11-4) to win on his jumping debut in the INH Stallion Owners EBF Maiden Hurdle.

Another Mullins runner, Augusta Kate also impressed winning the Listed Coolmore N.H. Sires E.B.F. Mares Flat Race.

There was a healthy return on the TOTE with the aggregate - €380,938 compared to €203,346 in 2014.
