Ice Cold red hot at Leopardstown

Trainer Noel Meade and jockey Jonathan Moore got off the mark at Leopardstown today when Ice Cold Soul stromed to victory in the Cardinal Capital Handicap Hurdle.

Ice Cold Soul won for Gigginstown and was prominent throughout to win by two lengths.

“He’s a full brother to two good horses, but his jumping has been a bit scatty, however he was the one horse of mine that really worked out of his skin before Christmas,” commented Meade in a post-race interview.

Jockey Robbie Power was also on the mark after going close for Gavin Cromwell in the Knight Frank Hurdle with Jer's Girl (second) when he won the Racing Post Handicap Chase with Dysios for trainer Denis Culen

DOWN ROYAL

Ger Fox was on the mark at Down Royal today when he won a maiden hurdle for trainer Cathy O'Leary with Conright Boy which won for the first time at the eighth attempt.

There was also a winner for Ratoath trainer Dermot McLoughlin who won the last race on the card at the Ulster track when Avellino had all of 13 lengths to spare at the post after a promising debut at Fairyhouse last month.

Trainer Gordon Elliott and jockey Jack Kennedy completed a double at Down Royal when Westend Star won a maiden hurdleon his second run for the trainer having arrived at the Longwood year from UK trainer Donal McCain in October.

The duo won the opening race with Noble Endeavour which landed the beginners chase for Dunsany owner Chris Jones.

KEMPTON

Elliott's Don Cossack didn't have the clearest of runs in the King George today, but had moved into a chalenging position when falling at the second last in a race won by the Colin Tizzard-trained Cue Card.

There was better fortune for jockey Barry Geraghty who was in the winners' enclosure for owner JP McManus with Full Shift in a novices handicap chase

There was a historic result in the grade one Kauto Star Novices' Chase when Lizzie Kelly rode into the history books when Tea For Two won the race. No other female had ridden a grade one winner of a chase in Britain.
