Kiltale retain shc title

Kiltale retained the Jubilee Cup SHC crown at Páirc Tailteann this afternoon with a emphatic 2-15 to 0-12 victory over Kildalkey to take their overall tally to six and their fourth since 2007.

This was polished display by Kiltale who were worthy winners as they established a 1-8 to 0-6 interval advantage with Peter Durnin grabing the first of his two goals in the 22nd minute.

Kildalkey rallied briefly after the resumption and a brace of points got the deficit down to a goal, but Kiltale reacted positively and were 1-12 to 0-8 to the good by the end of the third-quarter.

Durnin's second goal with about eight minutes remaining added some gloss to the display on a day when he was the top scorer with 2-2 while Jack Regan talled seven points.

Kiltale will now prepare for a Leinster campaign intent on making up for defeat in last year's provincial decider (intermediate) and they will face the Wexford intermediate champions (home) in a fortnight in either Navan or Trim.

Kiltale finished with 14 men after Stephen Donoghue picked up a second yellow card in the closing stages.
