Five lined up for shinty shuffle
Five Meath players have been selected to represent Ireland in the senior and under-21 Hurling/Shinty International games against Scotland later this month and in late November.
Dual star Mickey Burke from Longwood has been selected on the senior panel along with his club mate Damien Healy and Trim’s James Toher, while Rathmolyon’s Jack Fagan and Kiltale’s Jack Regan will be part of the u-21 side to face Scotland.
Captained by Laois’ Matthew Whelan, the senior squad also features Clare’s David McInerney, Galway’s Shane Maloney and Waterford’s Maurice Shanahan. The big names in the u-21 squad are Waterford’s Austin Gleeson and Conor McDonald of Wexford.
The first test will take place on Saturday 24th October at 2pm in Bught Park, Inverness along with the u-21 game which will take place at 11.30am.
The return game will be played in Croke Park on Saturday 21st November, prior to the International Rules game between Ireland and Australia.
The Irish Hurling/Shinty senior team is managed by Galway’s All-Ireland winning minor boss Jeffrey Lynskey and Gregory O’Kane of Antrim.
