Gaels win well in boardsmill
Blackhall Gaels recovered from their second round SHC defeat against Kildalkey when they proved too strong for Rathmolyon at Boardsmill this evening where they won with plenty to spare by 1-17 to 3-5.
Rathmolyon finished with 13 men after second-half dismissals for Aaron Fagan on a straight red and Tom Lynch (two yellows).
Fagan departed with about 10 minutes remaining, Lynch near the end.
Blackhall were ahead by 1-12 to 2-5 when the first dismissal gave them an advantage, but they were starting to shape up like winners anyway.
Blackhall trailed by the minimum (0-8 to 2-3) at the interval.
Mike Cole and John Farrell scored Rathmolyon's first-half goals against a depleted Blackhall side that was without Jonathan Meyler (injured) and Stephen Morris (abroad) and a number of other regulars.
The sides were level seven times, but Rathmolyon didn't score between the 43rd minute and the end with their late goal coming in the sixth minute of added time.
Blackhall were worthy winners with Tommy Murphy and Paul Kelly sharing 10 points, Kelly also found the net at the three-quarter stage.
