Man arrested after garda search in trim

A man in his early thirties has been arrested following a Garda search after a stolen car crashed close to Trim this afternoon.
At around 2pm, a stolen car avoided an unmarked patrol car at Kilnagross, Trim. The culprit drove dangerously before crashing into a telegraph pole approximately 2kms out the Kildalkey Road, Trim. The occupant of the car fled the scene and swam across the River Boyne.
A wide scale garda search was launched which involved the garda air support unit. The suspect was arrested around a half hour later and taken to Trim Garda Station for questioning.
