Nobber retain corn na boinne cup after extratime
What a game and what a pity there had to be a runner-up - on this occasion it was Castletown, but to use a horseracing term, it was on the nod as the teams produced 50 scores and needed extra-time to decide the issue.
It was level at 1-17 apiece at the end of 60 absorbing minutes with Brian Farrell's first-half goal for Nobber cancelled by Thomas Smith's effort for Castletown.
Nobber were ahead by 1-11 to 1-8 at the break, but in the second-half they were level four times and Castletown hit the front briefly, but needed a brace of Barry Smith points to get to extra-time.
At the end of the first period Nobber were 1-21 to 1-19 to the good, but Castletown went 1-23 to 1-22 ahead in the second period.
Three unanswered points from Niall Farrell, Brian Farrell and Gerard Campbell kept the Corn na Boinne Cup in Nobber for another year.
That's two-in-a-row now - is the hat-trick on in 2016?
The championship is now the focus for both teams.
