Moynalty trainer on the mark at punchestown
Moynalty trainer Des McDonogh has his horses in fine form at the moment with Realta Rathcabhain demonstrating that fact with a second winner this month for the Moynalty handler at Punchestown yesterday.
Realta Rathcabhain won a handicap hurdle and completing a double for jockey Danny Mullins in the process.
Realta Rathcabhain won at Limerick in June and yesterday the 11-year-old, which is owned by the trainer's wife, Helen, moved into second place before the last to lead on the run-in to score by three parts of a length.
'He's a grand horse. He's 11 now and hasn't run that many times, it's beautiful ground - good jumping ground, I don't think he'll be a winter horse,' commented the trainer to irishracing.com
No More Heroes (third in the Albert Bartlett at Cheltenham) ran out an impressive winner in a beginners chase providing the combination of trainer Gordon Elliott, jockey Bryan Cooper and owner Gigginstown with a double at the Kildare track
Elliott's other winner, in the first race, was 1/4 shot Tycoon Prince which could also be Cheltenham-bound next March.
ON THE ROAD
Tomorrow (Thursday) trainer Jim Dreaper makes the trip to Sedgefield with Camilla's Wish for a handicap chase while Gordon Elliott goes to Stratford with Knight's Parade in the first race on the card - a selling burdle.
DOWN ROYAL
Meath-trained horses could be in the majority for the feature JNwine.com Champion Chase at Down Royal on Saturday.
Top-rated Don Cossack is the main attraction for trainer Gordon Elliott who will have Roi Du Mee in the race.
The Noel Meade-trained Road To Riches is also likely to defend his title (won the race last year) and all three are owned by Gigginstown.
Meade could also run another Gigginstown horse - Wounded Warrior -and Texas Jack, which is owned by Robert Watson.
