Ratoath aiming to derail kilkenny men
Ratoath manager Fergal Power (pictured) will not be taking the opposition lightly as he finalises plans for Sunday's Leinster Club IFC quarter-final tie against Kilkenny senior champions Railyard.
Ratoath will have the benefit of home advantage on Sunday when they tackle Kilkenny senior fotball champions Railyard in the Leinster Club IFC quarter-final at 2pm and the Meath IFC champions will be expected to win with plenty to spare.
Ratoath accounted for Dublin side St Patrick's (Donabate) in the last round two weeks ago when they won by 2-12 to 0-11 event without the Wallace brothers, Eamon and Joey, who are likely to be battling to get their places back in the starting 15 this weekend.
Railyard needed a replay to get the better of Muckalee in their county final by 2-8 to 1-9 at the end of August and a number of club officials attended the game in Donabate to get an idea of the strength of the opposition.
'We were impressed with Ratoath, they're a good team and they were short a few lads, but we will be going up to Meath to give it a shot and we will be hoping that we can re-produce the form that got us a win against Aughrim 12 months ago,' he commented this evening.
Following that win against the Wicklow men, Railyard were knocked out of the competition by Kildare side Eadestown.
Five of the Railyard players - Paddy McConigley, Philp Roche, Caleb Roche,Cormac McDonald and Paul Donnelly - all started for Kilkenny in the All-Ireland JFC semi-final against Mayo in Tullamore where the Connacht side emerged with a hard-earned 1-12 to 0-8 victory, a sixth Railyard player, David Roche was also on the panel.
