Trevor giles out of the meath picture
Delegates at next Monday night's Meath GAA Co Board meeting will have plenty to discuss when it comes to the re-appointment of senior football manager Mick O'Dowd with the revelation by the boss that selector Trevor Giles will not be part of his backroom team for 2016.
Another selector, Sean Kelly, stepped down a couple of weeks ago and delegates at Monday night's meeting in Kilmessan will consider the proposal from the Co Board to appoint O'Dowd for another two-year term.
The Executive Committee have recommended that the Skryne man be returned as manager for two years with his position to be reviewed at the end of 2016 before confirming the extension to the second year.
O’Dowd has introduced several new players to championship football this summer and the Co Board believe that the best way for those players to develop is under the continued management of O’Dowd.
Howver, midfielder Adam Flanagan will not be available for 2016 after he sustained a cruciate injury last week.
