Killyon march to big win as games are called off
It was all so easy for Killyon as they romped to a resounding 2-15 to 1-9 victory over Rathmolyon in the SHC at Boardsmill this evening.
Conditions were perfect for this encounter but it was clear from very early on that it was going to be a lop-sided contest.
Killyon, who lost to Kildalkey in the opening round, needed to win this tie and they were well on the way to doing just that at the interval when they led 0-15 to 0-6.
Goals from Killyon's David Raleigh and Stefan Kelly early in the second-half put the issue beyond any reasonable doubt.
Raleigh with 1-3 and Keith Keoghan with six points showed the way for Killyon on the scoring front, with Ray Massey, Killian Canavan and Calvin Ryan also contributing fine scores.
Tom Henderson grabbed Rathmolyon's goal with a close-range finish. Gary Doherty popped over eight points all from placed balls but Rathmolyon struggled to create openings.
The SHC game scheduled to be played in Athboy tomorrow between Navan O'Mahonys and Dunderry has been postponed as a mark of respect for the Meath woman who died in the shooting in Tunisia.
Two JFC games, one between O'Mahonys and Dunderry at Athboy as well as the clash between Kiltale and Kilmessan at Ratoath have also been postponed.
The other SHC encounter scheduled for tomorrow (Saturday) between Trim and Boardsmill at Kildalkey, 6.30, will go ahead as planned.
