Safety a priority at almc rally
Safety, safety, safety - that was the message delivered by Clerk of the Course John Carroll this evening in Trim's Castle Arch Hotel at the launch of the ALMC stages rally scheduled for Sunday 5th July with a new route for competitors planned.
This will be the second year that the popular rally will be headquartered in Trim and some 30 competitors from the UK are expected to dice with the local crews for overall honours.
Speaking at the launch, the Clerk of the Course confirmed that ALMC had received great co-operation from Meath Co Council in relation to road closures and also with some strategic re-surfacing in areas where the loop of three new stages are located.
Each of the stages will be completed three times for a total of approx 120 stage kilometres (approx 70 miles) with some challenges for the drovers.
The rally service area will be at the Oak Tree Business Park in Trim which will also host scrutiny (a check for safety purposes on all the vecihles - some of which will date back to the 1970s) on Saturday 4th July.
Following scrutiny, there will be a ceremonial start from Trim Castle on the Saturday evening with a parade through the town back to Parc Ferme which is adjacent to rally HQ in the Castle Arch Hotel.
''I would like to thank Meath Co Council, the Gardai and the local council officials for their support along with the members of the ALMC committee who have worked hard to make this project a success,'' commented Carroll.
