Phyllis Kiernan, Kells There was widespread sadness following the death of Mrs Phyllis Kiernan, Cross Street, Kells, on 10th June last, aged 89. Mrs Kiernan, of a well known local business family, passed away peacefully in her sleep. Deceased was born in Farrell Street, Kells, a member of the Carty family that ran a renowned pub and undertaking business. She married Jack Kiernan and moved the short distance to Cross Street, where they opened a successful shoe shop in 1947. There she enjoyed a long and happy life. She had a keen interest in current affairs and was an avid follower of the Meath team, and spent hours watching the tennis from Wimbledon each year. Most of all, she loved to be with her family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Jack Kiernan died in 1993, and Mrs Kiernan was also predeceased by her daughter, Therese, in 1978. She is survived by her sons, Jacksie, of Trimgate Street, Navan; Jim, Cross Street, Kells; and Brendan, of Navan Shopping Centre; daughter, Anne Lawless, Williamstown, Kells; daughters-in-law, Eileen, Mary and Frances; son-in-law, Matt; grandchildren, great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. The funeral took place from St Colmcille's Church, Kells, to St Colmcille's Cemetery. A month's memory Mass takes place on Sunday 8th July, in St Colmcille's Church, at 11am. ___________________________________________________________ Mary Margaret Farrelly, Crossakiel The unexpected death of Mrs Mary Margaret Farrelly, Philipstown, Crossakiel, Kells, was the source of widespread regret. Aged 66, she died at Our Lady's Hospital, Navan, on 7th May last, following a short illness. Mrs Farrelly was a member of the McNamee of Balgree, Carnaross, daughter of Pat and Mary McNamee. She had two passions - the GAA and her love of children. Her passing has left a huge void in her family and local community. She is survived by her husband, Sean; sons, Raymond and John; daughters, Catherine and Joanne; son-in-law, John; daughter-in-law, Linda; grandchildren; sisters, Bridie McCormack; Christina Cunningham (Australia); Teresa Tunney; brothers, Paddy (Australia); Seamus; Jack; Gerry and Christopher; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; nieces; nephews; and a large circle of extended family and friends. The funeral took place from the Church of the Assumption, Ballinlough, to the adjoining cemetery. ___________________________________________________________ Thomas Duffy, Trim Mr Thomas Duffy, Doolistown, Trim, who died aged 67, was a native of Mulgeeth, Enfield, Co Kildare, and passed away at his residence. He is survived by his wife, Nora; sons, John, Brian, and Dermot Duffy, London and Doolistown; daughters, Amanda Coleman, Sligo and Grainne Madden, Kiltale; grandchildren, Ben, Ella, Grace, Tommy; sons-in-law, Pat and Joseph; brother and sisters. The funeral took place from St Brigid's Church, Boardsmill, to St Loman's Cemetery.
