Meath are camogie queens

Meath carved out a historic All-Ireland Premier Junior Camogie Championship final victory against Down by 1-11 to 1-9 at Croke Park today. Meath were ahead when Sinead Hackett found the Down net in the third minute and they laboured to a 1-5 to 0-6 interval lead. However, Down surged clear in the second-half with a well-taken goal, but Meath battled back to parity and showed great character to dig out a victory as they maintained a high tempo for 60 minutes. Jane Dolan received the cup from camogie president Eibhlin Uí Leathlóbhair. Meath will play in the intermediate championship for 2013 and are already planning to make an impact at the higher grade. Meath manager John Davis was relieved and pleased at the final whistle as Edel Guy doused him with water - possibly for substituting her before the end???? Edel was unavailable for comment???
