Dubleek celebrates Dubs in Meath

'Dubleek' is a festival of music, dance, theatre, food and street entertainment in celebration of Dublin and Meath people living in Meath, which will take place in Duleek on the October Bank Holiday Weekend 27th, 28th and 29th October. Over 50,000 Dublin people have moved to County Meath in the last 15 years and many of them have settled in Duleek. "Luxury housing at affordable prices", "Fantastic commuter infrastructures" and a "more laid back lifestyle" were some of the phrases used by property developers to attract Dublin Northsiders , to buy houses in the" sleepy village of Duleek which has often been named 'Dubleek' , the organisers say. Many have adapted to country life getting involved in their local community and their children involved in many of the local clubs and football teams. But when you see more Dublin GAA Jerseys and flags in your town you gotta question who are my neighbours? The Dubleek Festival Organising committee feels that this festival will bring the community together and everyone young and old out to enjoy themselves over the weekend to create new friendships and discover more about the people who live next door! Headlining the event will be The Original Rude Boys, playing in the Festival Marquee at O'Neills on the Mainstreet on the Sunday night. The festival will close on Monday 29th with the Soap Box Derby taking place on Mill Hill, Duleek. This has got the locals really pumped with entries coming in thick and fast and proving to be a great team builder bringing groups young and old together to build their self propelled race entry. The Proceeds from the festival will go towards three local community clubs, The St. Cianan's Boxing Club, The Foroige Youth Club and The Duleek/Bellewstown Ladies GAA Club.
