The death of Mr John Walsh at his home, Navan Gate, Trim, on 2nd March last, was the source of widespread sadness. He was aged 60. Originally from Stoneyroad Dublin, he moved to Trim in 1990 when he opened The Dean Swift pub with his wife Olive. Deceased was involved in the South Meath Darts League for many years and was appointed treasurer of the committee in 1991. He made his last darts presentation in the Judge and Jury only the Sunday before his passing. Mr Walsh worked with Flexibus in Navan and was well known for his kind heart and patience. He will be sadly missed by his colleagues and passengers. He was well known for his fitness and his walking around Newtown. He loved to stop at the Echo Gate and take in the beautiful surroundings. Since being diagnosed with cancer nearly three years ago, he got very involved in the research for oesophageal cancer fund, which is well known as Lollipop Day. Deceased made his final journey through the town he loved so well on Monday 5th March, passing his former pub location on Bridge Street and his son's pub, The Judge & Jury, on his way to his final resting place. He is survived by his wife, Olive; family, Richard, Sinead and Danielle; grandchildren, brothers and sisters, brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws; nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours and friends. The funeral took place from St Patrick's Church to St Loman's Cemetery. ____________________________________________________________ John Martin, Kells There was widespread sadness following the sudden death at his home of Mr John Martin, Magdalene Court, Kells, who was a native of Kilmainham, Kells. Deceased, who was 63, was a hugely popular figure in the Kells area and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his brothers, Jimmy, Kent, England, Noel, Kells, Paddy, Teltown, Navan, and Gerard, Navan; sisters, Angela Leonard, Collon, Co Louth, Christine Clarke, Kells, Mary Martin, Kells, Catherine Martin, Kells, Joan McGlynn, Longford, and Gertrude Hand, Slane; brothers-in-law, Bill, John, Gerry and Paul; sisters-in-law, Valerie, Patricia and Bernie; nephews, Mark, Kevin, Ciaran, Oisin, Ross, Killian and James; nieces, Samantha, Ashling, Shauna, Rachel and Katie; grandnephews, Brendan, Luke, Daniel, Matthew, Rhys, Ben and Cameron; grandniece, Melissa; great grandnephew, Conor; great grandniece, Taycia and nieces-in-law, Donna, Melanie and Fiona. Deceased's popularity was evidenced by the very large attendance at the Funeral Mass in St Colmcille's Church, Kells, and burial in St Colmcille's Cemetery, Kells. ____________________________________________________________ Mary Fox, Kells The regretted death of Mrs Mary Fox, late of Church Street and Headfort Grove, Kells, at the age of 93, occurred in St Elizabeth's Nursing Home, Athboy, on 23rd February last. Originally from Ballyhagan, Carbury, Co Kildare, Mrs Fox was predeceased by her husband, Kevin, in 1957. Deceased moved to Kells in 1956. An enthusiast of pitch and putt she was involved with her local club for many years. For 33 years she worked as housekeeper in the Bank of Ireland, and was a regular of Catherine MacAuley Centre, where she made many friends. Until recently she enjoyed being out and about for a chat with neighbours and was always ready for a song and a dance. Her laugh was well known all around Kells, where she was simply known as 'Nanny' and 'Big' to her great grandchildren. She spent her last year in St Elizabeth's Nursing Home, Athboy. Deceased is survived by her sons, Kieran, Headfort Grove, and Des, Foxborogh, Co Dublin; daughter, Rose, Headfort Grove; daughters-in-law, Mary and Jean; grandchildren, Noleen, Rosemarie, Edwine, Adrian, Karen, Lisa and Kevin; great-grandchildren, Nadine, Clodagh Orazio, Laure-Jane, Daniel, Craig, Kelsea and Nikki; brother, Joe; Monasterevin, Co Kildare and nephew Kevin, Clane, Co Kildare. The funeral took place from St Colmcille's Church, Kells, celebrated by Fr John Byrne, who spoke of her great laugh, and love of her family. Mrs Fox was laid to rest beside her great granddaughter Ciára at St Colmcille's Cemetery. A month's memory Mass will take place on Sunday 25th March at 12.15am in St Colmcilles Church, Kells.
