Dance stardom now beckons for Prodijig's Dane after £250k win

Rath Chairn dancer, Dane McKiernan, is the toast of Britain and Ireland this week following the spectacular win by his dance troupe, Prodijig, in Sky's television show 'Got To Dance'. Stardom now beckons for Dane and his fellow performers who wowed the judges and the voting public in the extremely popular dance competition. The seven-strong dance troupe, who won the top prize of £250,000, are now planning to prepare a full-length show, which they hope to bring on tour. Dane said this week he was "delighted" and "over the moon". He said they were now taking a breather, but would be putting a show together and going on tour. "We are all very excited. It was an amazing experience. Sunday night's final in the Olympia arena was in front of 6,000 people and the energy was crazy," he said. "We could not believe we made it into the top three, never mind actually winning it," he said. "We are like kids at Christmas, we couldn't sleep." Dane added: "We are over the moon. When Davina called out Prodijig's name, we've never been so proud in our entire lives. Thanks to all our friends and families, to everyone everywhere that voted." Dane's parents, Mary and Seamus, and brothers, James and Jason, as well as some cousins and friends, travelled over to London for the final and were thrilled at Prodijig's success. The group is made up of seven Irish dancers, ranging in age from 21 to 27, who were members of the professional 'Riverdance' tour. Dane toured with 'Riverdance' for three years, and before that, with 'Rhythm of the Dance'. All seven of the group met while touring with 'Riverdance' and started putting their act together about a year ago and started rehearsing last summer. A former member of the Carney Irish Dancing School, Dane has danced at functions and festivals around Meath, including countless St Patrick's Day parades Host Davina McCall commented: "Prodijig are a unique act. All the finalists were amazing, and this was the hardest final to call, but they definitely have a huge future ahead of them and I can't wait to see what they do next."
