Martin ennis off to a winning start
New Meath manager Martin Ennis got his term in charge of the hurlers off to a winning start with a thoroughly deserved 1-16 to 0-12 first round Kehoe Cup victory over St Patrick's Mater Dei in the curtainraiser at Páirc Tailteann today.
Meath were ahead by 0-7 to 0-5 at the interval and were well worth that advantage despite a tally of eight wides.
Kiltale's Jack Regan was the top scorer with three points (two frees) while Alan Douglas and Adam Gannon sent over a brace apiece from play.
Meath took that wide tally into double figures as they finished with 15, but they did enough in that second-half to seal a comfortable victory Patrick Conneeley finding the net.

Next up: A trip to play Louth in the second round next Sunday, Louth lost to Longford today. Meath will be expected to both win next weekend and experiemnt some more ahead of the start of the NHL Div 2B opener against Kildare on Sunday 15th February.
