Tara na Ri to rock this weekend
After a really exciting final at The Stables Venue, Tara Na Ri, six bands rocked it out battling for the guest support slot for Ryan Sheridan at this weekend's Tara Rocks music festival. This competition was judged by the audience and guest judges Padar Mulvey of The Whatmans, Andrew Wilkinson of Sian Records and Paul McCarthy of Tara Rocks. Ruari Coogan of RC Lofi was over the moon with the announcement of the win. "I just cant believe it, we were up against five amazing bands with such promise for the future. We have gigged with Ryan Sheridan two years ago so we cant wait to sing support for him again this Saturday. Its a real privilege! We are performing between our two favourite bands, The Whatmans and Ryan Sheridan, what a great opportunity!" Each band had to play two original pieces, a great opportunity for an up & coming band to show case their music and captivate a new audience. The line up on the night included Liam Gilsenan and the Prodicals, Altar Era, Tomorrows Sunday, Hunters Edge and Lucid Dreams. The final was opened with a guest band called 'Third Smoke', a cool and quirky four piece from Dundalk who have just released their EP 'Tell a Friend' and thrilled the audience with their song 'Dog Rough Dancing'. LMFM have invited RC Lofi into studio on the Late Lunch this Wednesday after 11am and will be on air with Gerry Kelly playing some tunes and discussing Tara Rocks. Ryan Sheridan will play on 27th August at Tara Rocks, a full day music festival at Tara Na Ri with three venues onsite for just €15pp. The mainstage will be MCed by RTE's Michael Hayes with an incredible line up of acts on the day such as Big Generator (5pm) Icarus sun, The Johnny Cash Show, Trigger & the Hitmen, The Christy Moore Tribute act, Frenzy, The Great Simones, The Furry Gilberts, Big Generator, Simon Fagan, The Whatmans, RC Lofi and Sheridan. The pub will remain open to the public hosting an open mic session and an open accoustic jamming session. Doors open at 12 midday & tickets €15 are available from www.e2music.ie or E2 Music Shop Navan. See www.tararocks.ie for festival updates.
