New location for Trim Educate Together NS

A new location has been found for the Trim Educate Together National School at the Glebe Golf Club after concerns were raised by local residents over plans to locate the new school in the Teaguestown Creche.
The new multi-denominational school, which is due to open in September, will now be located in the Glebe Golf Club on the Kildalkey Road, and details are currently being finalised on the lease of the property.
This is temporary arrangement and it is intended that the permanent school will be located in the former national school on Patrick Street in the town.
In March, it was announced that the Department of Education had sanctioned a new Educate Together School and the Department immediately began seeking temporary accomodation for the school, The Teaguestown Creche, close to the Knightsbrook Hotel, emerged as the preferred option.
A pre-school is located downstairs in the building and the first floor was to accommodate the start up school, This building would have required a change of use as it was a creche. However, prior to the lodging of a planning application, it emerged that residents had concerns about traffic and the offer of the building was withdrawn.
An alternative location was pursued by the Department of Education and Regional Development Officer with Educate Together, Gerry McKevitt has confirmed that the school will open in the Glebe Golf Club. The lease is being finalised at present and it is hoped the school will be in building at the start of the July to make preparations in advance of the September opening of the school,
Meanwhile, Karen Reilly has been appointed the new principal of Trim Educate Together NS.
Ms Reilly is a graduate of University College Dublin where she obtained a B.A. (International) in History and German and a H.Dip. in Education. She subsequently graduated from St Patrick’s College, Drumcondra with a Grad. Dip. In Education and is currently completing post-graduate studies in Educational Leadership at NUI Maynooth.
She has over 12 years experience teaching at all class levels and has particular interest in teaching Modern Languages at primary level. A small number of places are still available at the new school. An open day for parents will take place at the end of this month, or in early July with the date to be confirmed.
