Lithuanian man is fourth Meath road victim since June
Flowers have been laid at the scene of a fatal crash near which happened last week near Ballivor. A Lithuanian man in his late 30s died after the car he was driving crashed into a wall on the Trim Road near Ballivor at around 4pm on Tuesday, 6th September. It was the fourth road fatality in County Meath since 27th June. The man died at the scene of the single vehicle crash involving a white Opel Astra hatchback. His body was taken to Our Lady's Hospital, Navan, for a post-mortem examination. He had not been formally named by gardai this week as efforts continued to trace members of his family in the Baltic country. The man, who is believed to have been living alone in Ballivor, was travelling from Trim to the village when he lost control of the vehicle near the turn for Muchwood, between Portlester and Moyfeagher. A local at the scene of the crash said that, such was the impact with the wall that the car rebounded and come to rest on the opposite side of the road. A technical examination of the scene went on until 10pm when the road was reopened to traffic. It is understood that the dead man was unemployed and well-liked around Ballivor. He is thought to have one brother at home in Lithuania and no other family.
