New manager for Navan Racecourse
Horse Racing Ireland (HRI) has appointed Peter Killeen as general manager of Navan Racecourse. Having been employed in Irish racing since 1981, Peter has been General Manager of Tote Ireland Operations for the last 14 years, becoming business strategy and operations manager in 2013.
Peter, who has a BSC Honours Degree in Business Studies, managed all Tote operations on-course including all major Irish racing festivals. He developed and directed the Tote Sports Lounge concept and managed all aspects of Tote’s involvement in capital development at racetracks.
HRI CEO Brian Kavanagh said: “Peter brings a great deal of management experience to the role. He has extensive contacts throughout Irish racing and joins Navan at an exciting time in its development, with improving attendances and commercial performance showing the potential in this popular Meath venue.”
Peter Killeen said: “I'm delighted to be joining the Navan Racecourse team and look forward to working with them in continuing the great efforts that have seen so much improvement in recent years. It's a fantastic opportunity and I'm very excited about the future of this renowned venue, which has such great potential.”
Navan Racecourse is one of Ireland’s leading Grade 1 racecourses and hosts 17 race meetings throughout the year including a number of high profile races under both Flat and National Hunt codes.
