Louth and Meath schools come together for 'Musical Extravaganza'

Talented acts from 15 schools across Louth and Meath will take to the stage at the TLT Theatre, Drogheda ,on Thursday night, 13th March, commencing at 7.30pm for the Louth and Meath Education and Training Board (LMETB) musical extravanganza.
Elma McMahon and Paul Strachan from LMETB recently met with Tommy Leddy of the TLT theatre to go through the finer points of the musical extravaganza. Teachers, staff and students from all corners of LMETB have been working hard behind the scenes rehearsing and practicing their show pieces.
There are nine schools from County Meath taking part: Colaiste na hInse (Bettystown), Ratoath College, O’Carolan College (Nobber), St Oliver’s Post Primary (Oldcastle), Coláiste Poball Rathcairn, Beaufort College (Navan), Colaiste na Mí (Johnstown), St Peters College (Dunboyne), St Fintinas Post Primary (Longwood) and Dunshaughlin Community College. The five Louth schools taking part are; Bush Post Primary, O’Fiath College (Dundalk), Scoil Úi Mhuiri (Dunleer), Colaiste Lú (Dún Dealgan) and St Olivers Community College (Drogheda).
Peter Kierans, Chief Executive with LMETB said: “This is indeed a historic and very significant event for Louth Meath Education and Training Board (LMETB). This is the first musical extravaganza to include all the schools in LMETB. This night marks for us the coming together of two VECs –Louth VEC and Meath VEC and will celebrate this union. Both VECs were known for the promotion of the Arts – in particular their support of musical events.”
Maire Ni Bhroite of LMETB said: “The show promises to be a spectacular event. We are very proud to present you with a flavour of student talent from all parts of the two counties and showcase it here in this beautiful TLT. We pay a particular warm welcome to the first year students from our two new schools- Coláiste na Mí, Navan, and Coláiste Lú, Dundalk.”
The finale will be Elbow’s ‘One day like this’ and will be performed by nine schools from right across Louth and Meath; you will not be disappointed with the choral arrangement with musical accompaniment from St Peters College. The finale was coordinated by Paul Strachan and Michelle Conway from Colaiste na hInse.
